Summer holidays in the Seetal valley: Nature, culture and relaxation
Linda and I were out and about on Lake Hallwil – and we can confirm: Aargau’s Seetal valley is a real holiday paradise. Nestled between rolling hills, vineyards and charming villages, relaxed summer holidays on Lake Hallwil await you here with a perfect blend of nature, culture and lake adventures.
To make your stay in the Seetal valley unforgettable, we’ll share with you our five best tips for budget-friendly summer holidays on Lake Hallwil:
1. Hallwyl Castle
One of the most beautiful moated castles in Switzerland, Hallwyl Castle is a true gem. Located in the municipality of Seengen, it takes visitors on an exciting journey into the past. A tour of the historic rooms, exhibitions and drawbridges will give you a first-hand impression of the Middle Ages. In the castle courtyard with bistro, you can enjoy coffee and snacks or try a glass of regional wine.

2. Explore the lake by pedalo
Summer holidays on Lake Hallwil are all about water fun. Bootswerft Männich AG is just a stone’s throw from the youth hostel. There you can hire pedalos, SUPs and boats to check out the lake at your own pace. As a guest of Beinwil am See Youth Hostel, you receive a 20% discount on pedalo hire. Linda and I also couldn’t resist a ride on a yellow one, a real eye-catcher! 😉

3. Free admission to Beinwil am See lido
The Beinwil am See lido, located directly behind the youth hostel and easily accessible via the football pitch, is perfect for a refreshing dip. Not only is the location brilliant. But as a guest, you also benefit from free admission! Whether you want to take a swim, soak up some sun or enjoy an ice cream by the water, holiday vibes are guaranteed here.

4. Hike along the lakeside trail
The Lake Hallwil lakeside trail takes you around the entire lake. This well-maintained path runs largely along the banks and invites you to take leisurely walks or longer hikes. There are picnic spots, nature reserves and views of the lake along the way. Hike the entire trail and experience the Seetal valley from many different perspectives. If the almost 22 kilometres are a bit too long for you, the mooring points make it easy to shorten the route with a boat trip.

5. Accommodation at Beinwil am See Youth Hostel
The youth hostel by the lake is more than just a place to sleep – it’s a little holiday paradise in its own right. Nestled in the green surroundings and just a few steps from the water, it offers plenty of space to linger with its barbecue area, garden and terrace.
As a youth hostel guest, you benefit from the following perks:
