Sun terrace time

There’s nothing better than enjoying an aperitif after a long day of hiking or swimming. It provides the perfect setting to reflect on your experiences and celebrate life. In this post we present our summer favourites at the youth hostels.

1. The idyllic choice

The sun terrace at Brienz Youth Hostel is just a few steps from the turquoise waters of Lake Brienz. Here you can alternate between sipping an aperitif and taking a refreshing dip in the water. Help yourself to snacks and drinks at the self-kiosk. Truly a little summer oasis between mountain peaks in the Bernese Oberland.

2. The blooming choice

A visit to Kreuzlingen Youth Hostel is quite the experience. The hostel is housed in an old villa exuding tons of charm. And of course there’s a large garden with lots of greenery where you can enjoy a leisurely aperitif on the sun terrace, with birds singing all around.

3. The stylish choice

High up, very close to the imposing mountain peaks, is the chic sun terrace of wellnessHostels4000 in Saas-Fee. Despite the altitude, it can get pleasantly warm up there, as the terrace is located right in front of the hostel, sheltered from the wind. At Bistro4000, you can treat yourself to delicious snacks and freshly baked cakes before or after your hike – or just because 😉.

4. The impressive choice

Mountains as far as the eye can see: This is the view from the sun terrace at Grindelwald Youth Hostel. The famous north face of the Eiger is a real eye-catcher and is best admired with a drink in your hand. And if you want to experience the mountains even more intensively, there are plenty of excursions to choose from in the destination, including the spectacular First Cliff Walk.
