You’ve never experienced Interlaken like this before

Looking for inspiration for your next Interlaken trip? We have a few tips for you.

Ever thought about spending your next holiday in Interlaken? The beautiful village is the gateway to a fantastic mountain world and has everything else you need for an unforgettable stay. Don’t you think so? Here are our tips:

1. Flying high with panoramic views

Interlaken is THE paragliding Mecca par excellence. Around 60,000 flights are carried out every year. After a short ride up the Beatenberg and an introduction by the guides from Paragliding Interlaken, it’s time to sit back and enjoy the view. The 15-minute flight offers views of the majestic Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountains and turquoise Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. Shortly before you land safely and gently on the Höhematte in the middle of Interlaken, you’ll do some loops with your tandem buddy. Do you dare?

2. Lunch with a view

Did you know that Interlaken has a local mountain? Harder Kulm is located directly behind Interlaken Ost station. The modern funicular railway takes you up to 1,322 metres above sea level in around ten minutes. After a short walk, you reach Hotel Harder Kulm, which looks like a castle. There you will find juicy burgers, fish bites and fondue – with a view of the breathtaking mountain scenery. A souvenir photo on the viewing platform is also a must.

3. Dive deep

Ever thought about exploring a gorge? Try canyoning and you can climb and jump off steep rock faces into thundering rivers. Not for the faint of heart! On this adventurous excursion, accompanied by professionals, you will see how incredibly strong the water can be. You should have good basic fitness – and not be afraid of dark places or water. And don’t forget to have fun!

4. Top of Europe

What would a visit to Interlaken be without a trip to the Jungfraujoch? It takes less than an hour and a half to reach the Top of Europe by train from Interlaken Ost. This is mainly thanks to the brand-new Eiger Express. Once you reach the top, you’ll get a breath of fresh air while experiencing unparalleled views of mountains, glaciers and eternal ice. On the way back, make sure you return via Lauterbrunnen and complete a circular trail. You won’t regret the extra miles.

5. How about some leisure?

There are two beautiful lakes in the immediate vicinity of Interlaken: the turquoise-blue waters of Lake Brienz and the deep-blue waters of Lake Thun. Naturally, a leisurely ship cruise is a must! There are numerous boarding and disembarking points where you can leave the ships and treat yourself to a delicious ice cream, for example. Alternatively, you can easily explore the waters and their surroundings on a kayak or stand-up paddleboard.

6. Not just there, but right in the middle of it

The question is, of course, where to spend the night. Interlaken Youth Hostel is a two-minute walk from Interlaken Ost railway station and is the ideal starting point for your adventures. You can either wake up with a view of the quintessential blue Aare or watch the pedestrians on the promenade. A substantial breakfast buffet is also available, and in the evening the chefs will spoil you with delicious dishes. You can even look into their pots while they’re being prepared in the open kitchen.
