8 UNIQUE YOUTH HOSTEL ROOMS (PART II)

We are back. In the second part of this blog series about 8 unusual places to stay, we take you on a journey to visit 4 very special youth hostel rooms.

On we go with the voyage of discovery: So after the beehive and tower room, to name but a few, we immediately start the second part.

If you missed the first part of the 8 youth hostel rooms – don’t worry! At the end of this blog post you will find the link to the previous post with the first 4 unique special places to stay.

5. Historic Spa Room in Crans-Montana

Our insider tip 5 beams you virtually to Crans-Montana in the Valais. There, surrounded by conifers, stands a former luxury sanatorium. A stylish building, with sun loungers on the room balconies as well as on the highest of the three sun terraces.

In addition to the magnificent view of high mountain peaks and Lac Grenon, at the Bella Lui Youth Hostel you can enjoy fresh mountain air and a particularly large amount of sunshine. At peak times, the south-facing plateau gets a full 14 hours of sunshine!

But it’s not just the renovated Kurhaus that gives this place its historical atmosphere – more authentic surprises await. One single room looks exactly as it did in the 1930s: original, including an antique writing desk and the elegant, high taps from that period.

6. Separate cottage (Hüsli) in Brienz

Once again in the beautiful Bernese Oberland, we next land directly on the shores of Lake Brienz. Of course, the privilege of direct lake access and lake views is available to all guests at Brienz Youth Hostel. However, you can spend a somewhat more private and therefore even more relaxed holiday by the lake in the separate Hüsli.

Almost connected to the main house, the Hüsli is nevertheless a realm of its own. It is wheelchair accessible, furnished as a double room, very spacious and has its own WC plus shower.

7. Suite with sofa in Scuol

Spacious, two large windows and homely but modern wooden elements. This is what the beautiful suite at Scuol Youth Hostel has to offer. Because the four-person room comes with a sofa too, it makes the view even more comfortable to enjoy.

In return, you can go on a daytime adventure with friends or family. The choice of exciting activities is particularly vast in Scuol – and just as varied, from hiking and wellness to wildlife watching.

8. Studio with seating in Bern

Our capital is colourful, cosy and diverse – and that’s exactly why it’s always worth a trip. If you’re planning a city break soon, it’s worth adding medieval Bern on the Aare loop to your list.

Because of the Aare and the Bundeshaus (Federal Palace), of course, but not only because of that! As is well known, the range of experiences is impressive: From shopping under the arcades to guided tours of the old town, museums, bear watching and cycling to culinary discoveries, (almost) everything is possible in Bern.

Here you will also find our hostel tip 8: Bern Youth Hostel in the Marzili is enthroned above the Aare and right under the Federal Palace. Since the reopening, the hostel’s more traditional offering has been supplemented with a studio where you can have some time to yourself among friends or with your children.

The studio, which has its own separate entrance, has everything you need for a great getaway.

The studio sleeps four, has its own shower and WC, a kitchenette, a dining table and a sitting area. The outdoor seating area is ideal for a relaxed chat in the fresh air. Minimum booking three nights.
